In general Steinberg conducts with maximum intensity. Usually he does not rush but is often quicker than the norm, e.g in the third movement of Beethoven Symphony 2 and finale of Beethoven #7 (see my reviews). In this Pastoral he is brisk in the first and third movements, more akin to both Kleibers than Bohm and Klemperer/5(5).
