Anvil Back To Basics review Heavy Metal. I'm so sad. Well, I guess it had to happen sooner or later. Unlike many people, I was quite happy with Anvil's recent releases and still stand behind my reviews of these albums (note: not expecting the band to release the same albums they did 20 years ago greatly helps appreciate their later stuff.)Missing: Sativa.

Still Going Strong at least starts out well enough, with the straight power bruiser "Race Against Time". The clinical muted intro riff had me hopeful that the band would be pulling out another dark track of "Blood on the Ice" quality, but what manifests is a straight rager redolent of the stuff Saxon were writing on albums like Metalhead.

"Still Going Strong" is a bit heavier and faster, but overall follows the same path as its predecessor - no frills heavy metal, no sugar added. Lips' distinctive vocals and guitar playing still make the songs unmistakably Anvil, pretty much a trademark sound at this point in time!:) OK, enough stalling.

ANVIL - Still Going Strong: 10 songs minutes ***** **** Massacre Bandpage. It is unnecessary to say that the Canadians Anvil belong to the kings of the metal scene. They have released 12 albums in 23 years and have written with Metal On Metal one of the most important metal hymns.
